New Beginnings (a broken* triolet poem)

Today is the day

of new beginning,

though the way

ahead is unclear.

Though your head may feel

like it’s spinning,

today is a day

of new beginning.

It may be a day

for grinning.

Aren’t we lucky

just to be here?

Today is the day

of new beginning,

though the way ahead

is unclear.

earl grey hot
and I smiled
while he spoke of clouds and storms
I hoped for the rain
